"I wonder if you think I'm letting go;
I might be but just believe I'll make it on my own."
I sang to myself as we boarded the bus home with Adam by my side. He told me the whole story, and amazingly, I didn't feel like sleeping or even yawning as I listened intently.
"Winnie, stop singing Everyday Hero." Adam said, sounding annoyed.
"Well, this is as far as I could go." I smiled mischievously. "But yeah, go on!" I urged, nudging him with my arm.
"So after I stopped her in the hallway," he said, putting his arms around the bus seat. "I-"
"OHH!" I suddenly cried out, "so you didn't get her, she was just available, huh?"
Adam kept quiet for a while as he strained for a reasonable excuse. "Y-yeah but hey at least I apologized, okay?"
I nodded. "And?"
"And well, first she jerked away from me so I gave her this puppy face." He grinned.
"No you didn't."
"How'd you know!?"
"Because even if you did, you wouldn't look cute." I said, suddenly felt happy for my comeback. I settled the bag in the middle of us, before he comes closer or anything.
"Okay, fine so I didn't. But I got her to stop, and well I totally apologized." he continued, shoving my bag aside. "And I told her if I had another chance back to the past, I promised I'd never do something like that. So will I now, too."
"Wow, you sounded real sorry, didn't you?"
"You wouldn't believe how serious I was, and I was just thinking of more useful stuffs to say in case she didn't buy that..."
Everything after that seemed blur to me, his sound faded eventually and I was thinking how proud I was for Adam. I kept quiet anyhow, so he wouldn't think he was heroic. Usually Adam wasn't such of a gentleman, but he actually drained his energy for this girl, and Mary deserves to know that.
"Wait," I stopped him, and I grabbed his shoulder and hugged him. "I'm so proud of you!" I gushed.
"Ugh," he groaned in disgust, "you girls have to stop this random hugging thing. I was in the middle of something,y'know?"
"Right, right." I let go of him instantly and kept my hands in my pocket. "Go on."
"So...after the whole thing, she suddenly just smiled and then she said something like, 'Thanks for the guts' and obviously I didn't understand her so I just pretended I did, and I said, 'It comes free' and then she laughed. And I didn't know why so I laughed along." He giggled as he said that, "I still don't know why she forgives me all of a sudden but I know I owe an apology to the kid, too. I ruined his future." His voice trailed off. "Yeah, I really did."

"Hey now make it count, get loud, it's a beautiful sound when everybody sings: LET YOUR LOVE OUT!" I sang whole-heartedly in my room, with a comb in my hand as I tossed my hair around. I was in my PJs and I felt on top of the world tonight.
You can call me crazy, but nothing was gonna stop me tonight.
The door burst open and Adam stepped in, his face flushed and red.
"Whoa what happened to your face?!" I freaked, never seen Adam that red before. He was even sweating, GROSS!
"Winnie, I just found out something. Everyone works out except you and me." he breathed out rapidly, "and now it only leaves to you."
"You worked out?" I dropped my comb pretending to be drastically shocked. "Wow, look at him, someone's got a killer body, eh?" I snorted, "how hot are you!"
"Shut up, Winnie. And what are you doing? Singing for a live audience here?" he mocked, imitating my voice.
"Well, actually only myself." I laughed at my joke. "and what brings you here?"
"I just thought," he landed his hairy leg on my bed as I cringed at him, "I wanna follow Mary home and visit Oscar."
"Sure."
"And uhh, by the way, you're coming with me." he added before he walked off.
"Why? It's your issue."
"Because you gotta help me stall and Mary's confused about the both of your friendship."
"Oh, right."
I picked the comb up again and turned the volume up. "Get out." I shooed him. He hurried out as I began to sing the song all over again.
"Now's your turn to stop and get real...No over thinking, now's your chance to make your story!"
In the background, I ignored Adam's remark, "You're not very good, lil sis."

The next morning, I figured I'd deal with Mary in the morning so when I followed Adam to her house, I wouldn't need to deal with her anymore. It'd be plain 'Adam and Oscar' situation.
I searched for her after I dumped my 'cool' bag into my locker and ran before the bell rang.
I spotted Mary in the cafeteria(as if there's anywhere else to hang out at) and before I could turn to meet her, she stood up. I tailed her as she looked at her watch on her wrist, she turned the opposite direction and walked faster.
I had a hard time following her as everyone was getting in my way. "Mary!"
Unfortunately, she couldn't hear me.
I followed her further and hit on someone hard.
"Oww." I stopped in my tracks, rubbing my shoulder. I looked up and sure enough, who else could it be, right?
"Hey," he smiled his usual smile, his hazel eyes sparkling. "What you -"
"You're forgiven," I fled, "and I have to like, go now!" I shouted back before he answers. "LATER!"
Luckily Mary was somewhere easily spotted, near the gents. Yeah, the gents. What is the possible reason she's outside the gents? If she thinks she's trying for a dare, I'd seriously grab her before she even tries to walk.
"Winnie?" I heard someone behind me. I turned to look and saw Adam looking behind me, as if he was talking with no one in between. "Are you spying?"
"NO! I just, she's going in the gents? THAT'S CRAZY!" I yelled enough for him to close my mouth with a snap. "Oww." I muffled. "Let go."
Adam listened, "What are you doing here?I wanna make it up to her, go clean." I smiled, looked back again and was grateful she was neither inside the gents or running away again.
"Oh I just came to see her."
