Geek Chic

The sunset is so beautiful. I wonder how it would be like to go up and close. You know, without getting burned or anything.
I was in my bedroom peeking out the window at the sunset when my phone which was on silent mode began to vibrate, causing the table to vibrate, too."Hey Winnie."The phone cracked an answer. "Wanna go out today?"I looked at my nails, cracked and ugly. The guys would definitely freak if they were to even have a smaaaall peek at it."Yeah totally." I broke a smile."Bebe coming along?"
"Yeah, I called her. She'd be meeting me at the theaters. So we'll be watching ManRival, okay?" he replied.
I opened my closet, expecting to find something casual. "Mmmh, yeah. I'll call you when I'm about to reach." I replied. After he said bye, I press the red button and ended the call.I pulled out a black tank top with white bermuda pants and matches it with a silver belt. Then I opened the door to my mum's room, "Mummy, Bebe and Damian are going to meet me at the theaters. We're gonna watch ManRival."
My mum, reading her oh-so-romantic novel, stared at me widely."Who's paying, may I ask?" she asks with a tint of smugness in her voice. Her legs were stretched up and she was flipping pages on one hand and twirling her curly locks on the other hand.
Hah! Easy question. "It's in the house, mum. Today's Damian's birthday. And his 19 year old cousin works there, remember Jack?" I raised my eyebrow. She nodded."Dame's birthday? Well, no one told me. Looks as if YOU didn't know it too." Well, actually I did. Bebe and I were planning a surprise party tonight. But Dame didn't know so he thought we'd forgotten. But we're still continuing with the party tonight even though Dame had us all go to the movies. It doesn't matter if he didn't know, yet."Well mum, in a matter of fact - I did remember. Anyway, I'll come back before 6 and I'll explain further, okay? Bebe and Damian would be mad if I turned in late." I walked up to her and hugged her. "Bye mummy love you."I'm a very close-to-my-family,i-would-risk-everything-for-them sorta person. And well, who wouldn't for a family as terrific as mine? So I asked my dad to drive me to Bond Theaters. He's very easy-going and okay with almost everything I'm going through(eg. boys) so he did. It was half past 5 when I got there. The whole building was really grand and bold. Striking colors, just as if I were on space. I got my phone out and dialed Damian. Speed dial: 5.
His voice emerged. "Hey Dame, where are you and Be?" I asked, looking frantically around. "I don't see you guys around here."
"Oh, wait for 5 minutes. Dad and I just picked Be and we're heading towards the theaters now."
I joined in the bee-line in front of the ticket counter. When I met with the ticket counter girl, I asked for Jack. Unfortunately, he wasn't in. Crap.
"Where is he?" I asked, finding a way to get the tickets for free. I didn't bring any cash, I should have known better. Next time Dame wanted to plunge me into any of his outing plans, I'd make sure he got the whole plot worked out."He's in some dork camp." The girl laughed, and snorted. Eww. The girl had curly hair, not the curls you'd curl from the saloon, but the curl as in you-haven't-touched-your-hair-and-have-you-been-looking-at-the-mirror lately kinda curls. She had freckles on the bridge of her nose. Without the curls, she would still look kinda appealing.
"Oh, okay thanks for the info." I said, sounded disappointed and walked out of the line. I mean,ManRival's a great show! It's about these humans who were heroes but not exactly heroic. I mean, they're dorky and geeky but they still save the world. Odd, you say? That's what makes me so high about this movie. And I've been wanting to watch it since the first day it was showed in all theaters.
I paced around in an open space, tearing my brain for solutions.
"Hey!" Someone shouted. I looked up. "Dame, explain yourself why your cousin isn't here." I already knew the answer, of course. But it was just a figure of speech.
"Huh?" He looked at me, as if I was out of the world or not looking very Winnie-ish today. "Jack's not in?"
Bebe poked me in the ribs, "Put on a smile, girl!"I knew I look like a stupid egotistical monster when I'm angry, but I couldn't help it, okay?
"Be, I wanna watch the movie reaal badd!" I squealed like a little girl. She looked at me sympathizingly. "Oh wells, come on, let's go for it." Bebe put her hands up looking like the Statue Of Liberty.
"Do what?!" I laughed."Convince that freckled faced curly haired looking chic. Duh." Bebe answered nonchalantly. She stormed to the front of the line as Dame and I watched. "She's terrific." I found myself mumbling."Wait Bebe!" Dame walked to the front of the line and jerked her out. "Jack's over theeere." He pointed to the opposite direction from the ticket counter, near the cafeteria. "Look, that girl there? She's Niza. She's apparently deaf. So I guess when you said Jack, he heard Dad or whoever it is. I don't know why they put her there, so don't ask me.""So it's already paid?" I asked, my bad mood starting to evaporate."Yeah, we'll just gotta go up to Jack there and get our tickets." He said, dragging us along into the cafeteria."This is so great!" I thought in my heart. My movie, a box of popcorn, no soda, and two best friends. Whoo!We walked up to Jack sipping his soda and joking with his other friends. He was wearing his uniform but as usual, he's a little over the edge so he decided to pop in another striking tie and open a few of his buttons under the dark vest. Showing a definitely punk look. "Oh hey dude." He looked up and smiled. "And dudettes.""Hey.""So, uhm oh your tickets." He dug into his pocket from his dark slacks and gave three tickets to us. "Hah, okay well - have fun, guys. And happy birthday, jock." He gave Dame a pat on the shoulder.* * * *By the time the movie started, I was all eyes and all ears. Dame and Bebe were sitting next to me. I was in the middle. And we were sitting on the last row."Wow, Jack sure gave us a nice spot." Bebe sarcastically remarked. Bebe is very sarcastic and very terrific. And she's a fashion plate. Did you see what she wore today? Some pumps, blue velvet tube and this really cute miniskirt. . Her hair's silky blonde, just like all the shampoo-ads models, just cuter. Waaaay cuter. And it's apparent all the boys in the school are after her,so I was just wondering if Dame was in the league for her."Look, I like it here. It's more private and quiet and you get more of the AC." Damian shot back. Good point. Damian was a smart guy, and a jock. And he's cute. He has brown and soft(I've felt it before, don't ask me how) hair and boy, was his eyes extraordinary...It was big and sea blue. And also, all the girls at school are after HIM. So see, can you work out a little chem between these two people? And if you asked me,there's no way I could hook up with him. I mean, I'm this small short girl and he's this big boy.And anyway, we're best friends - couldn't possibly happen."Hey girl," Bebe nudged me when I was so engrossed with the movie,"how's the newsletter going?""Uhm okay," I answered back, eyes still glued to the screen,"I finally got the teachers' approval of publishing a very case-sensitive topic.""Case-sensitive?" Dame asked,"What about?""Sex." I replied, stopping to look at the both of them as I knew what their responses were going to be."EWWW!" They groaned. I laughed out loud but afraid that the popcorns would be literally popping out my throat."Dude, you posted something about the S word in the SCHOOL'S NEWSLETTER!?" Damian asked, still shocked."Yeah, and it had you going through so many tries to convince the teacher, why didn't you even let it go?" Bebe asked, talking like a news reporter. Fast and rapid."Shush! I'm trying to watch here." I snapped, shushing them. At the corner of my eyes, I still saw their disgusted faces. It was so fulfilling. *snickers*When the part where this dorky guy named 'SpinTheMan' came spinning some villain, I heard a snore from beside me. Bebe? No, she was awake, watching the movie and laughing out loud at the stupidity.Damian? I glanced over at him. He WAS sleeping. Sheesh, how rude. His mouth was open like a small 'O' and his hands were under his head. His hoodie was in a mess. Haha, he looked adorable. "Next time, let's watch something like this again." Bebe suggested."Uhh, the next one is PG 18. And we're only 7th graders, remember?" I reminded her. She immediately sulked."Ohh darn."she looked over me, "Hey is that Dame sleeping?""Mhhm" I nodded my head. "Hey anyway I'm gonna get a popcorn outside. Wait for me." I climbed over Dame's legs and headed outside.Just my luck. Popcorn's sold out. I MEAN, IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! And you know what, when I finished arguing with the fact that POPCORN CAN BE FINISHED IN A THEATER, I missed the whole show. And I totally wish I should have just ignored the fact number 1 in the theaters: Popcorn CAN be sold out, it's just a matter of time.So after that, I hugged Bebe and Damian before I left the movies. I winked to Bebe, indicating her that we'd be still having the party on at 8 or so. And that I'll give her a call. She winked back. Damian totally dazed out, still sleepy from his cozy AC-filled room sleep when I was outside almost into smack mode with that popcorn man about popcorns. It was just 6 when I reached home, finding my mum and brother in the living room, talking."Hey guys," I greeted,"It was so fun watching ManRival!" I gushed, turning into the kitchen to get myself Milo."Uh, dear..." my mum said slowly but loud enough for me to hear. "We have something to tell you."That's when I heard a slam from the door, DAD'S BACK! YAY! "Sure, what about?" I asked, stirring my cup of Milo."I don't suppose it's a good news." My mum said, looking at my brother, Adam, before looking back at me. I stopped stirring my Milo when I realized it was something I didn't wanna think about or something I would dread."You're gonna have to transfer school." My mum broke it down slowly. And that's when my dad gasped and left me horrified.
